Conyngham Street Community Children’s Centre was established in the mid 80’s to provide high quality care for the staff of Glenside Hospital. The Childcare Centre was relocated to its current site on a vacant block adjacent to the old building.
The new building was opened in 1997, as a purpose built centre that offers the children and staff an environment that is welcoming, bright and spacious.
The centre is comprised of four separate rooms allowing us to offer care to children from 6 weeks to 6 years. Each room has been designed to cater for the needs of a specific age group, with appropriate furniture and equipment. We have a brand new, modern kitchen to ensure that high quality, nutritious food is provided.
Each room has access to large outdoor playgrounds that have been developed to meet the needs of the children. For example; sandpits, bike tracks, slippery dip, swings and a large natural grassed area. The yards also have well established trees providing shade in summer. Each playground has undercover areas allowing the children to be outside during the cooler months.
There is a large carpark at the front of the centre with an undercover walk way, and a night light that provides a safer carpark at night time.
Staff and parents strive to maintain a clean, safe and secure building and grounds to promote high standard facilities.
Conyngham Street Community Children’s Centre is licensed for 73 children per day. Unfortunately, we do not offer half days.
At any time, we have no more than 30 under 2’s and 43 over 2’s. This number is in accordance with the licensing approval from the Department of Early Childhood Development (DECD).
