Nutrition and Meals

All our meals are prepared and cooked on site by our in-house cook.

A healthy and delicious menu is provided for children in Wattle, Jacaranda, Blue Gum and Red Gum and adjusted to suit the ages and stages of a child’s development.

Food and meal times are an essential part of our program. The food and menu at Conyngham Street Community Children’s Centre are carefully planned to ensure they meet a range of requirements, including the guidelines developed by Nutrition Australia. They aim to provide 50% of children’s daily nutritional requirements. The meals are seasonal; during the summer months they include lighter foods and in winter we eat heartier, warming foods like soups and curries.

Meals are made from scratch wherever possible from locally sourced ingredients. Whole foods are the foundation of all meals. Allergies and other dietary requirements are catered for as we offer gluten free, egg and dairy free alternatives, and vegetarian options. Cultural beliefs are catered for to the best of our ability. Dietary requests that are not for a medical or cultural reason are discussed with the Director and catered for providing they meet the nutritional requirements for children under the age of 6.

We provide all children with morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. If a child arrives before 7.30am they will be offered breakfast. Children are also offered a late snack if they are here after 4.00pm.
